The CASA Oath
An Oath shall be administered to the CASA trainee, prior to appointment by the Presiding Judge of the Juvenile Court, or his/her designee, and shall read as the following:
I, (state name) do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California; that I take this obligation freely and without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties upon which I am about to enter.
I (state name), do hereby swear that, in serving as an officer of the Court, I will truly and faithfully perform the duties of a Court Appointed Special Advocate in all cases in which I am appointed; that I will do so accordingly to the law, that I will preserve the privacy of those for whom I am appointed; and that I will always act for the best interest of the children I am helping. The sworn CASA shall sign a copy of the Oath and Affirmation Form, the CASA will affirm to uphold the duties and responsibilities of a CASA.
The sworn CASA will also read and agree to comply with the mandates of SLO CASA by the National, State, and Local CASA Association and sign the Volunteer Agreement Form.
