CASA VOLUNTEER CONTINUING EDUCATION
National CASA requires 12 hours of Continuing Education per year. As a result CASA Advocate Supervisors (with the assistance of Support Staff) will be verifying your compliance in obtaining these hours. In order to help you we have compiled a list of the many ways you can complete these requirements. The list also includes how many Continuing Education Units (CEUs) you will receive. Always verify and get approval from your Advocate Supervisor before participating in any independent study. The books and visual media in the CASA library are approved CEUs. Any Continuing Education opportunity posted in the monthly Voice newsletter or emailed from CASA staff can also be used for CEUs. If you would like to attend all or part of the next CASA training as a refresher, please contact the office in advance to find out when trainings are and to reserve a spot.
The following are possible Continuing Education Opportunities. Please check with your Advocate Supervisor for topic appropriateness.
- CASA office trainings
- CASA Case Discussion meetings (offered monthly)
- College coursework / Independent study
- Community workshops / Lectures
- Department of Social Services workshops / Trainings
- SLOCAP meetings / other forums
- Approved videos, movies, TV shows
- Books (1CEU for every 100 pages)
- Podcasts from National CASA
You will receive 1 CEU for each hour of participation with the exception of books. You must note the completion of any CEUs on your tracking form in order to receive credit. Please consult your Advocate Supervisor if you have any questions.
